| Created by renowned industrial
designers, Weishaupt’s products – many of which have won
awards – elegantly combine form and function. Company
founder Max Weishaupt was already looking for designers with technical
know-how, because they could best combine the exterior and the interior
– form and function – in one product. One of the early projects,
the W burner of 1963, became a classic, and today is on display at the
museum of Applied Arts in Munich. The project was typical of Weishaupt
because it marked the first time that technicians and designers had
worked together and inspired each other to create something entirely
new: a compact, encapsulated, low-noise unit, protected from dust by
a cover. Under the cover, the components – most of which were
diecast – were arranged in a well-spaced, logical way. Bringing
together functionality and aesthetic appeal in the Weishaupt style makes
not only good sense, but also a good impression. The company's trade mark image.
The entire look of the company has been developed in accordance with
its design philosophy - encompassing everything from its graphics, it's
advertising and the layout of it's trade fair stands right through to
the architecture of the company's buildings. So is the Forum in Schwendi
- designed by the American star architect Richard Meier, classic yet
modern, and functional yet beautiful. |
