WK-series burners are Weishaupt's most powerful burners. Rated up to 109,000 MBTU/h they have been designed primarily for heavy-duty industrial applications. They are are available as gas, oil or dual-fuel burners.


Modular principle: The fan, control panel, pump station and pre-heater station are selected independently of the burner. This concept offers a high degree of flexibility, for example when dealing with difficult conditions such as dust or high ambient temperatures.

Digital combustion management: Digital combustion management, with which this series is equipped as standard, provides accurate control of the fuel and simplifies burner operation and maintenance. It also facilitates integration with various monitoring and controls systems, including complete building management systems.

Insulated burner housing: The internal insulation reduces noise levels and minimizes the surface temperature of the burner housing during operation with preheated combustion air. The burner can be operated with combustion air temperatures of up to 480 F (250 °C).

Tailored versions: WK-series burners are available in different versions to suit different applications. Different mixing assemblies are available to suit particular emission-level requirements. There are also "swirlflame" version burners available, where the combustion air is swirled, resulting in a shorter flame suited to extremely short combustion chambers.

Numerous fuels: There are WK burners suitable for use with light oil, heavy oil, and natural gas, as well as LPG and other fuels.

Patented Weishaupt multiflam technology allows lower emission values on larger applications.

The core of this technology is a specially designed mixing head assembly, which provokes internal fluegas recirculation. Flame temperature is therefore lowered and generation of Nitrogen oxydes can be reduced. The NOx values are comparable to those typically reached by smaller compact burners.

Good Cost to Performance ratio: Additional external items such external flue gas recirculation system are only required, when compliance with market specific Ultra lowNOx values is required.

Optimum combustion: The mixing head assembly distributes fuel to multiple nozzles. Combustion process takes place via primary nozzle and secondary nozzles which are concentrically placed. The primary flame generates a stable, supporting flame for the entire firing range.

Allround purpose: Combined output rating for various Weishaupt multiflam burner series ranging from 340 to 78,500 MBH.

Digital combustion manager: The most modern technology controls fuel and air supplies and is also responsible for optimum combustion values.

Long Lifetime: Years long experiences and R&D works backup Weishaupt burner’s technology. Only the best materials are used for manufacturing.

Modern fuels: Weishaupt oil and dual fuel burners are generally compatible with light oil #2, low sulphur #2 light oil as well as #2 light oil with up to 10% bio content (B10).

Flue gas recirculation

Current Weishaupt burners in 4LN version meet the world's strictest environmental specifications. Burners version 4LN are equipped with a flue gas recirculation system, whose control components are integrated in a separate fan unit.

Flue gas recirculation for gaseous fuels: Gaseous fuels are almost completely sulphur free. Consequently, the flue gases consist primarily of carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapour (H2O) and nitrogen (N2) and the flue gas recirculation system does not become fouled by ash or soot.

Specially designed mixing assemblies: Specially designed mixing assemblies and digital combustion management ensure that the key characteristics of Weishaupt burners – reliable ignition, a high degree of flame stability, and safe operation – remain very much to the fore.

Dosing: The Mixingbox is worth mentioning. It combines the compact dosing unit for flue gas recirculation and the negative pressure control of the air intake. With this compact fan unit, installation work and commissioning time on site can be reduced.

Control: The FGR system is controlled by the W-FM 200 combustion manager. An additional software module ensures the return of a temperature-compensated volume of flue gas at all operating stages, reliable cold start behaviour, and the highest degree of operational availability.


Weishaupt supports a CHP plant

Approximately 8000 inhabitants in Buch, a suburb of Bietigheim, are supplied with heat and power from the municipal CHP plant. There are many industrial consumers too, including the mechanical engineering and automotive industries. All together, around 42,000 MWh has to be generated every year. Two Weishaupt WK-series burners with variable speed drive and O2 trim help meet peak demand loads, generating around 21,000 MWh of heat energy per year, predominantly with natural gas. The building automation technology is provided by Neuberger, by the way, a Weishaupt subsisidiary based in Rothenburg.
