The efficiency of heat pumps in everyday operation

The heating system specialist, Weishaupt, has an interesting brochure for tradespeople who want to advise their clients about modern heat pumps and the potential savings they offer.

How economical a heat pump really is is best shown by independent field tests and measurements that document the units in operation. It is precisely these sorts of tests and measurements on all different kinds of heat pumps to which this brochure refers. Various reference sites in regular operation were investigated over a long period of time.

The following data were recorded and examined by the Frauenhof Institute for Solar and Energy Systems (Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme, ISE):

  • Thermal energy generated for heating and DHW
  • Power consumption of the heat pump
  • Monthly and seasonal performance factor

The constant monitoring of measured values shines a light on consumption and economy – for new and existing houses and apartment blocks alike. In total, the brochure presents 11 reference sites with air-to-water and brine-to-water heat pumps.

The information, titled "Wärmepumpen: Zuverlässigkeit und Wirtschaftlichkeit" (Heat Pumps: Reliable and Economical) is available in PDF format under "Service" at www.weishaupt.de. A printed booklet can also be ordered directly from Max Weishaupt GmbH, 88475 Schwendi, Germany, from info@weishaupt.de, or from one of the 28 Weishaupt branch offices in Germany
