New heat generation for residential complex: higher efficiency, lower emissions
The “Gartenstadt Tollenbrink” garden city in Hanover was built in the 1970s. When renovating the heating system for a total of around 480 residential units, the planners set high standards for emission values.
This ambitious goal was achieved with two Weishaupt PLN burners: their nitrogen oxide emissions are below 12.5 ppm (25 mg/m3), which is significantly lower than the requirements of the German regulation.
Weishaupt has very successfully transferred a principle from proven gas condensing technology to the PLN burners in the output range up to 17,000 MBH (5 MW). After premixing to form a homogeneous gas-air mixture, the fuel is burned on the surface of a metal mesh tube protruding into the combustion chamber. This creates a carpet of flames with temperatures below 1,200 degrees Celsius, which ensures particularly low nitrogen oxide values.
With the electronic gas-air composite system of the Weishaupt W-FM combustion manager, control ranges of up to 1:7 are possible.
